Motorhome Rental Terms and Conditions

Please read the following terms and conditions carefully before booking your motorhome rental with Devon Motorhome Rentals. These terms govern the rental agreement between the Hirer and the Owner.

1. Definitions

  • Owner: Steve Mitchell, Devon Motorhome Rentals
  • Hirer: The individual or company hiring the motorhome.
  • Vehicle: The motorhome provided by the Owner for hire.

2. Rental Period

  • The rental period will be agreed upon at the time of booking.
  • Extensions of the rental period must be agreed upon in advance and may incur additional charges.
  • There is a minimum rental period of two days.

3. Rental Pick Up and Return

  • Vehicle must be collected and returned to Devon Motorhome Rentals, Little Moor, Plympton, Plymouth, PL7 5AR.
  • Vehicle must be collected and returned between the hours of 10am and 4pm.
  • The vehicle will have a full fuel tank upon collection and must be returned with a full fuel tank. Exxtra charge to fill will be current value at the pump + 50%
  • The vehicle should be returned in a good state. Any extra cleaning due to excess mess in the vehicle will incur a cleaning charge of £50.

4. Payment and Security Deposit

  • The balance of the hire cost must be paid prior to the start of the rental period.
  • A refundable £500 security deposit is required before the vehicle is taken. This deposit covers any potential damage or additional cleaning costs.
  • Payments are only accepted by debit or credit card.
  • Any overdue payments will incur additional charges, which will be specified by the Owner.

5. Cancellation

  • Any cancellation more than 6 weeks before the agreed rental date will incur a loss of the booking deposit.
  • Any cancellation between 2 and 6 weeks of the original booking will incur a loss of 50% of the total hire charge.
  • Any cancellation within 2 weeks or a no-show will incur loss of the deposit.
  • The owner reserves the right to cancel bookings at any time should the vehicle become unroadworthy.

6. Insurance and Breakdown

  • The vehicle is covered by comprehensive self-hire insurance provided by Allianz Insurance PLC.
  • The insurance does not cover personal belongings, and the Owner is not liable for any loss or damage to the Hirer's property.
  • The Hirer is responsible for any damage not covered by the insurance policy.
  • The insurance excludes drivers under 25s years of age, over 79 years of age, and drivers with less than 2 years of full UK or EU driving experience.
  • The insurance excludes professional entertainers, sports persons, jockeys, and persons connected with racing, the gaming industry, or the press.
  • The vehicle comes with breakdown cover provided by Call Assist. In the event of a breakdown, the Hirer must contact Call Assist immediately and follow their instructions.
  • The Hirer must inform the Owner of any incidents or accidents as soon as possible.

7. Vehicle Use

  • The vehicle must only be used for its intended purpose and driven on recognised roads within the UK and Europe.
  • The Hirer must adhere to all UK and European traffic laws and regulations.
  • The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities or driven under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

8. Prohibited Activities

  • Smoking and vaping are not allowed in the vehicle.
  • Pets are not allowed in the vehicle.
  • The driver must not have more than 6 points on their driver’s license.

9. Driver Requirements

  • All drivers must be at least 25 years old and no older than 79 years old, and hold a valid UK driver’s license for a minimum of two years.
  • The Hirer must provide a copy of the driver's license and any additional documentation required by the insurance policy.
  • Additional drivers must be declared and meet the same requirements as the primary driver.

10. Maintenance and Breakdown

  • The Owner ensures the vehicle is in good working order at the start of the rental period.
  • The Hirer is responsible for checking oil, water, and tyre pressure regularly.
  • In the event of a breakdown, the Hirer must contact Call Assist immediately. Any repairs must be authorised by the Owner.

11. Return of Vehicle

  • The vehicle must be returned on the agreed date and time, in the same condition as it was at the start of the rental period.
  • Late returns may incur additional charges.
  • The vehicle must be returned with a full tank of fuel.

12. Cancellations

  • Cancellations must be made in accordance with the Owner's cancellation policy.
  • Cancellation charges may apply depending on the timing of the cancellation relative to the rental period.

13. Amendments

  • Any amendments to the booking must be agreed upon by both parties and may incur additional charges.

14. Data Privacy and Protection

  • The Owner is committed to protecting your privacy and complies with the principles of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
  • Personal information collected during the booking process will be used solely for the purpose of managing your rental and providing our services.
  • We will not share your personal information with third parties except where necessary to fulfil our contractual obligations to you, such as providing insurance coverage or breakdown assistance.

15. Governing Law

  • These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
